Fall 2006 Question:
You’re the Chief Executive Officer of a major, privately held corporation that makes pencil erasers that are made to look like celebrities from the movies. Your business is wildly successful, especially your Pirates of the Caribbean/Johnny Depp line, and you need to build a new plant, but you don’t have the money. Should you take your company public and raise money in the stock market or look for the money in the private sector by finding an investor or through a loan? Choose to go public or stay private and give us your reasons why.
